How to back up your site

It's essential to make regular backups of your site, so that you can restore it if something goes wrong.

You can back up your site by downloading the files from your hosting account to your local computer with an FTP client and by exporting your MySQL database(s) with phpMyAdmin.

If you need help with setting up your FTP client to connect to your account, read the tutorial on the respective FTP client. To download the files from your account to your local computer, after you connect to the account with the FTP client click with the right mouse button on your account's public_html folder and from the menu that appears select Download. You can, of course, back up only certain subfolders of public_html, in case you don't want to back up everything.

You can back up your MySQL databases with phpMyAdmin. To access it, click on the link in the Databases section of the Pixie control panel. In phpMyAdmin click on the name of the database in the left frame. After you do it you'll see its tables in the right frames. Click on the Export tab that's above the tables. On the page that opens you don't have to change any settings, just click on the Go button in the lower right corner, and select a location on your local computer where you want to save the SQL dump file.
