How to change passwords in Drupal

If you don't remember your password, one way to reset it is to use the request new password feature. There should be such a link under the login fields on the homepage of the Drupal site. When you click on this link you'll be prompted to type your username or the email address associated with your account. After you do it click on the E-mail new password button and you'll receive an email with a link in it. This is a temporary one-time login link. When you click on it you'll be sent back to the Drupal site. Click on the Log in button that's on the page and the settings for your account will be displayed. There you have to type a new password in the fields for Password and Confirm password and click on the Save button.

If you know your password but you want to change it, or as an administrator you want to reset the password of any of the registered users, you can do that from the admin panel of your Drupal application. After you log in to the admin panel click on the People tab in the top navigation bar. One the page that opens (the List sub-tab page) there is a table with all the registered users listed in it, including you. Click on the edit button for the particular user, and on the page with the settings that opens type the new password in the fields for Password and Confirm Password and click on the Save button. If you're changing your own password you also have to type your current password in the corresponding field. Authenticated users are also allowed to change their own password. This can be done after they log in, from the settings for their account.
