How to add and remove databases and database users with the Pixie control panel

HostKnox customers can add and remove databases and database users from the Databases section of the Pixie control panel. After you log into the control panel click on the Manage button for the particular hosting account and on the next page click on the Databases button.

On the following page there are a few buttons in the black area on the right side. To add a new database, click on the Add Database button. On the page that opens type the name of the database and optionally a username and password for a database user, if you want to add a user to the database. Then click on the Add Database button that's below the text fields to create the new database.

All databases that you add are listed in the Databases section of the Pixie control panel. Under the name of each database there's a Remove button with which you can delete the database together with its user(s). For each database there's also a Users button. It displays a page that lists all users belonging to that database. To add a new user to the particular database click on the Add Username button that's in the black area on the right. You can also remove each user or change their password. There are buttons for that under the name of each user.

On the main page that lists all databases there are also a couple of other buttons under the one for adding databases: Master Username and phpMyAdmin. By default, each hosting account comes with a master database user. This is the user that has access to all databases that you create. The master username comes without a password, so to be able to connect to databases with that username first you have to set a password. To do this, click on the Master Username button in the black area on the right and on the following page specify a password in the text fields. From the same page you can change the password at any time.

With the phpMyAdmin button you can access phpMyAdmin. This is an application for managing databases.
