How to change the version of Magento extensions installed through Magento Connect
Magento extensions are provided in three different versions/states:
- Stable - extensions in stable state can be used for production sites
- Beta - extensions in beta state are not recommended for production sites
- Alpha - extensions in alpha state are still in development and should not be installed on production sites
You can change the version of Magento extensions installed through Magento Connect from your Magento admin panel > System > Magento Connect > Magento Connect Manager > Settings tab > Preferred State.
By default, the Preferred State for Magento extensions is set to Beta.
To change the version/state, click on the drop-down menu next to Preferred State and select the new preferred state. For production sites it is strongly recommended that you choose Stable.
Click the Save Settings button to save the new state.
